Clapping
Today Catie started clapping. She loves when mommy and daddy say "yay!" while she claps. That makes her smile.

Waving
A few days ago we noticed Caitlin moving her hand when a man waved at her. She would rotate her little hand back and forth. Now it's starting to look like a real wave.

Her First Meal!
Today was Cailin's first day of eating solid food. She had rice cereal. Not a big fan of the rice cereal and not really sure of how to swallow. Virtually all of it ended up on her chin.

Sitting Up
Caitlin began sitting up on August 25th. She caught on quickly. We put pillows behind her for a couple of days and then she had it. She loves to sit and play with her toys now, so we're happy about that!

Laughing
June 20th was Caitlin's first laugh. Daddy was making a "buzz" noise and she started chuckling. She also likes the "ZZZZZZttttt" noise that he makes. On July 15th, we got the first full belly laugh when her brother was doing his comedy routine. She thinks her brother is funny.

Rolling Over
Today Caitlin rolled over from her belly to her back. She's especially good at rolling over when she has a toy in her hands.

Smiling
Today we have the first confirmed smile. We think she has been smiling before now, but it is now consistent. She smiles at her mommy, daddy, and her big brother. She doesn't smile at strangers quite as much as Colin did.

First Dress!
Catie wore her first dress today to her friend's party. It was Jake Thedford's first birthday.

At about 8:00, Tara's water broke. Contractions started about an hour after that. "Relax", the midwife said when we called in. "Take your time." So we took a little time and packed up. By the time we got to the hospital, Tara was having contractions every 4 minutes or so and was in quite a bit of pain. It took us about 20 minutes to get checked in and to convince the hospital staff of the urgency of the situation. The doctor finally made it to the room and immediately determined that the baby was breech and that Tara was fully dilated. With the only anesthesiologist busy working on another emergency, he was getting set for a natural delivery (we were scheduled for a c-section this Friday). Just in the nick of time, another anesthesiologist popped her head into the room. They rushed Tara into the OR and had her knocked out and the baby delivered in about 7 minutes.
Mother and baby are both doing great and we should be heading home tomorrow.
